GOJO Central Europe GmbH donates sanitiser to schools

GOJO Central Europe GmbH, maker of the hand sanitiser PURELL®, wants to protect one of the most vulnerable groups: Children. For this reason, the company recently donated 30,000 bottles of its highly effective hand disinfectant gel to schools in Germany.

Hand hygiene stops the spread of germs at schools

Especially at schools, diseases spread very quickly. Good hand hygiene, however, protects against illness. By donating 30,000 bottles of its hand sanitiser PURELL to schools in Germany GOJO Central Europe wants to help reduce outbreaks among children.

The bottles are small enough to fit in any backpack and are perfect for in-between hand hygiene. To hand over the 100-millilitre-bottles and inform about the efficiency of the disinfecting gel PURELL, Lisa Sekyi, E-Commerce & Communications Manager at GOJO Central Europe GmbH, visited some institutions in person.

Scientifically tested and effective against coronaviruses

The hygiene solutions of GOJO Central Europe GmbH have been tested by independent institutes for their effectiveness against harmful germs including the coronavirus. They are effective within 30 seconds. The neutral smelling gel for hand disinfection is used in many hospitals for infection prevention and is very skin-friendly.

"PURELL can be used regularly without any sorrow - even by younger age groups, although children should of course always be supervised by an adult when using it," says Lisa Sekyi from GOJO. "Wearing masks, washing hands regularly with soap and water or disinfecting hands with an alcohol-based solution with a concentration of at least 70 per cent are the most important measures to control the current pandemic. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends hand disinfection whenever there is no possibility to wash hands with soap and water."

Hygiene in schools takes effect

The Goethe School in a small German town called Mühlheim am Main was one of the schools that received a donation. Headmistress Yvonne Botsch handed the bottles immediately out to all pupils. "Hygiene at a school is so important, especially in current times. If children wash their hands regularly, the number of illnesses decreases noticeably," she said. "We therefore put great emphasis on pupils cleaning their hands with soap several times a day. And if this is not possible, it is of course useful to disinfect the hands."

To ensure that the daily cleanliness routine is as thorough and effective as possible at schools, GOJO Central Europe GmbH also provided information material about washing hands and hand disinfection. This included posters to teach children about proper hand cleanliness.
