Interculturally safe hand cleansing - PURELL® products receive Halal certification

As a globally oriented and internationally operating company, it has always been a special concern of ours that we think and produce in an inclusive and sustainable way. We want to reach as many people as possible with our range and give them an all-round feeling of safety when using PURELL® products. We are delighted that we have recently received Halal certification and can therefore offer Islamic PURELL® users hand cleansing and sanitising in accordance with their ethical and religious needs.

Manufacturing process and ingredients put to the test

Halal certification plays a crucial role in assuring Muslims that the products they use comply with Islamic dietary laws and ethical standards. Many therefore associate halal certification with food, but it is not purely limited to food and drinks. Hand sanitisers and soaps, for example, are subject to halal certification to ensure that personal care products also comply with Islamic principles. The process of certification goes far beyond the mere ingredients and encompasses the entire production process of a product. This ensures that the product not only contains permissible ingredients but is also free of impurities or cross-contamination with forbidden substances.

Transparency of the ingredients

To obtain the internationally recognised certification, manufacturers are required to disclose all ingredients used in their products. For hand sanitisers, for example, this means that Islamic consumers can be confident that substances contained do not come from sources that are prohibited under Islamic dietary laws, such as alcohol from non-halal sources. The alcohol used in Halal-certified products has generally been denatured, i.e. treated to make it unfit for consumption. In addition, it evaporates when the sanitiser is applied to the hands so that it cannot be rubbed in through the skin. Providing transparency about such procedures helps Muslim consumers make informed choices about the products they use, ensuring their safety and facilitating adherence to their faith.

Ethical production

In addition to the ingredients, as mentioned, the production process itself also plays a role in certification. Award-winning manufacturers must adhere to ethical and humane practices that are in line with Islamic principles. This includes, for example, ensuring that the production facility is clean and free of contamination or that employees are treated fairly and ethically.

From our PURELL® range, around 100 products now carry Halal certification, including hand cleansing, surface sanitising, sanitising wipes or hand cleansing for heavily soiled hands. A full list of our Halal-certified products can be requested from our team at info@purell.eu.
