Good news! Last year, we made a commitment to contribute to sustainable development, laying out goals in our "Journey to Green" manifesto. However, every big journey ultimately consists of many small steps and we have now taken another important step in the right direction - with more products in sustainable packaging.
Hand sanitiser in recycled packaging
Since November 2023, we have been producing PURELL® hand sanitiser in 300 ml and 500 ml bottles made from 100% PCR-PET (post-consumer recycled plastic). These refill bottles are not only more environmentally friendly, but also make a significant contribution to reducing single-use plastics. By focussing on recycled plastic, we use 18% less virgin plastic and are a big step closer to our goal of using no more single-use plastics by 2040. A life cycle analysis has also shown that our new PCR PET bottles produce 93.8% less greenhouse gases compared to conventional PET bottles. This means that we are not only using fewer resources but are also actively helping to curb climate change.
Environmentally friendly replacement
To emphasise the switch to the new bottles, we have added the words "Bottle made from 100% recycled plastic" to the product labels. This allows you to recognise at a glance that together we are protecting the environment. We are transitioning to recycled plastic as quickly as possible, whilst following environmental best practices. This means that we will work through our existing stock of PET bottles and labels. It is therefore possible that your next deliveries may still be made in conventional PET bottles, but these will also be phased out in favour of recycled plastic over the next couple of months.
Proven safety and quality
It is important to note that this change has no impact on the safety, quality or effectiveness of our products. So, you can continue to rely on the proven cleaning power of PURELL®, while at the same time working with us to have a positive impact on the environment. A win-win situation!
