At GOJO, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and have therefore been pursuing strict, self-imposed climate targets for many years. To achieve these, we are constantly researching the sustainable improvement of our products, among other things. That's why we are particularly proud to announce that, from this month, GOJO Europe's foldable refill cartridges will be made from 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET). This means that the plastic needed for the bottles of these refillable cartridges can be produced without depleting natural resources, reducing the carbon emissions of the production process by 93%.
ADX makes the start
Initially, all products in our ADX range will be equipped with the new R-PET refill cartridges. Subsequently, the refill cartridges of other products will also be gradually switched to recycled plastic. With the ADX range, the sustainable improvement already includes a wide range of hand cleansing, hand sanitising and hand care products.
Less single-use plastic with the same effectiveness
The use of R-PET for refill cartridges is a novelty in the hygiene market and just one of the many steps we are taking to solve the problem of single-use plastic. Our new refill cartridges have been extensively tested to ensure that the use of recycled PET does not compromise the effectiveness of our products. And what can we say, they passed with flying colours. Despite the recycled R-PET now being used, there is absolutely no change to our usual product quality for the end consumer.
Our customers also benefit
Our customers also benefit from a more sustainable refill as it helps them achieve their own green goals. Using our products reduces their own use of virgin plastic as well as their CO₂ footprint, all at the same, consistent cost.
The future brings even more change
In addition to our switch to R-PET, we have other plans for the future. By 2025, we want to convert all products to 100% recyclable packaging. We also aim to reduce the use of virgin plastic by 30% and reduce waste by 20%. By 2030, we promise that 100% of cosmetic formulas will be classified as biodegradable. We also aim to achieve CO₂ neutrality by 2050.
